Oh, great spirits please bring back the rain.....
Tell us what we have done to anger you, Great Spirits....
Surely The spirits don't want me to give my blanket, or my bow and arrow...
The opening scene of the Comanche Indians are dancing to the Spirits because their land and people are dying.
The only thing I have left from my family..
They dance for 3 days to the beat of the drums. Many of the elderly and children died from the lack of food. One of the few children left that is the main character of the story is the little girl by the name of She Who is alone, the only member of her family that was left.
Oh thank you Great Spirits..
She who was alone was the only one who understood what the Great spirits wanted. Her warrior doll the only thing she has from her family who had died.
That night while everyone was asleep she took a fire stick out and her doll and started a fire to burn the only thing she owned, she asked the spirits to accept it.
She who is alone sacrifice brought on forgiveness from the great spirits. The people benefited from her gift and the land was restored. Her people danced in happiness.
The girl that gave an unselfish gift received a new name from her people. "ONE WHO DEARLY LOVED HER PEOPLE"
