Storyboard Text

  • 1763, the French and Indian War has finally ended with the British winning. They won Canada, Louisiana, and Florida but were left in financial distress. They needed a way to gain money in order to pay off the debt they owed.
  • In 1767 Charles Townshend who was Britains Chancellor introduced a series of taxes called the Townshend Acts. This meant that imports of things such as glass, lead, paint and tea were to be taxed on the colonies
  • These taxes infuriated the people because they would have to pay even more for essential items and these taxes would mean more power over them. They were being taxed without given proper representation so they protested "no taxation without representation"
