"Jane Gallagher. Jesus. I couldn't get her off my mind."
Caulfield is very shocked that his roomate is going on a date with his crush Jean.
"I'm thinking...Uh. Jean Gallagher."
Holden Caulfield's Dorm
I'm going to write about my brother's mitt.
Holden doesn't know what to write Stradlater's composition on, so he thinks about Allie's baseball mitt that has poems written in green ink.
Holden couldn't sleep so he went to the lavender room and met three young women. His favorite was the blonde girl named Bernice because she was a great dancer.
This blonde girl is such a dancer!
I don't even want to communicate with him.
Holden goes to the museum to look for Phoebe. He loves the museum because it stays the same no matter how many times one visits. This is emotional to him because he wants to be like the sightings and never grow up.
Everything would stay the same in this museum. "The only thing that would be different would be you ."
The ducks symbolize how one must adapt to the environment in order to survive. The problem with Holden is that he doesn't want to change he wants to live in his childhood.
"I didn't see a single duck."
Even though it was raining very hard, Holden didn't mind sitting there because he was watching Phoebe ride the Carousel and that made him happy.
