  • Since only boys grew up to be citizens,boys and girls were educated quite differently.
  • you are a fully citizen now.
  • In ages 6 and 7 boys were taught at home by their mothers or mate slaves.From ages 6 and 14,boys went to school.
  • Girls were to help their mothers around the house and the boys learned poetry and music as well as reading and writing.

  • In Sparta, the purpose of education was to produce men and woman who could protect their city state. If a baby was not wealthy or strong they let him died . After 20 years old if they became militaries they would become full citizens.
  • They were taught to read and write, but Spartans did not consider those skills as important. They taught being a brave soldier was important. They were trained in barracks and they were taught different skills of fighting and gymnastics.
  • Spartan boys were taught to suffer any amount of physical pain without complaining.They were not fed well so they were encouraged to steal food as long as they did not got caught.
