In 1774, British Parliament passed the Intolerable Acts in order to punish the colonists for Boston Tea Party and to gain more control. In the act, Britain decided closed the Boston harbor until colonists pay for the Boston Tea Party. They banned town meetings and British official accused of crimes must stand Trial in Britain.
Even though the town meeting was banned, colonists still managed to held the first Continental Congress. They know they need helps from each other. Colonists pulling together to support the protests and started setting up for military preparations.
This is very significant since its the first battle of American Revolution. Having learned that the British were planning to send troops and occupy surrounding the city, Colonists led by Colonel William Prescott built fortifications. The battle gave colonists confidence and the revolutionary war finally started.
