King Henry viii wished for an annulment from his first wife Catherine of Aragon for not producing him any male heir
Catherine of Aragaon had only given Henry a daughter, Mary and 3 still born sons. He wished for annulment but was cautious because Catherine had power back in Spain and did not wish to cause a war.
King Henry viii went to consult with Pope Paul iii to ask for his permission to have an allument from his wife. The Pope was outraged because the was not following the laws of the Catholic Church
