- Your going to find the area of this?
- How do I find the area of this?
- 19 mm
- 3 mm
- 8.5 mm
- 8.5 mm
- 5 mm
- We are going to seperate both shapes?
- So now that we split them up we have to subtract 19-5 which eqauls 14. So 14 is the lenght off the bottom square
- 19 mm
- 3 mm
- 8.5 mm
- 8.5 mm
- 5 mm
- Correct and now we just do area x lenght and we add both squares areas and get the final answer
- Im going to do square 1 first , so 3 mm times 14 mm which equals 42So the area of the 1st square is 42 mm
- 14 mm
- 3 mm
- 8.5 mm
- 2
- 1
- 5 mm
- Good job now do the second square
- ok, 8.5 mm times 5 mm equals 42.5so the area of the second square is 42.5
- 14 mm
- 3 mm
- 8.5 mm
- 2
- 1
- 5 mm
- now add them
- ok so 42 +42.5=84.5
- 14 mm
- 3 mm
- 8.5 mm
- 1
- 2
- 5 mm
- so whats the answer?
- The area of both squares is 84.5 mm.
- 14 mm
- 3 mm
- 8.5 mm
- 2
- 1
- 5 mm
