In the novel Hatchet Brain and his mom are going to the airport to fly to his dad's house. "He was 13 and the only passenger on the plane"(Paulsen 1). This quote shows that he is one a one engine plane and that is a very small plane and it can only hold a pilot and one passenger.
In the woods when the plane crash Brian is feeling sick and does not feel right because he hasn't ate in a while and all he eats are turtle eggs. "He walked slowly along the side of the lake still a bit in pain from hunger"(Paulsen 61). This quote shows that he has not eaten in a long time and he can barley move and he feels very sick.
Brian's strongest personality trait is Brave. This is because if he was not brave enough to take over that plane when the pilot died he would not be alive. Also he is brave in the woods and he finds his way to survive on his own with nothing except the things around him ."When the plane ran out of gas he should hold the nose down and head for the lake"(Paulsen 24). This quote shows that when he is falling from the sky in the plane if he was not brave he would just give up and just die.
The characteristic that describes Brian in the beginning of the story is Lonely. This is the word because he does not have anybody to talk to or help him survive. Also if he had somebody to talk to about the situation between his parents he would not rip himself apart by just thinking about it the whole time he is lost.
The character trait in the middle of the book is crazy he is crazy because in the novel he is talking to fire thinking it is a person. "I have a friend, he thought-I have a friend now. A hungry friend, but good one. I have a friend named Fire"(Paulsen 89).
Hello fire hows it going.
The characteristic that describes Brian at the end of the story is adventures. This describes him because he likes to wonder and find new things around the woods and not stay in one place because he does not want the mosquitoes eating him up.
