The English and French fight over land. The English win with the help of colonists and certain tribes of native Americans. The king of England claimed the war was fought to protect the colonists. After the French and Indian War, Britain was low on funds, and what better way to gather funds than to tax its loyal subjects in the colonies? After all, the war was fought in part for the Colonists. It seemed fair that the Colonists should help increase revenue(income) for Britain.
As previously stated, Britain was hurting financially after the French and Indian War. One of the first things Britain proclaimed was that land won during the war would be reserved for Native Americans. It would be against the law for colonists to settle in that area. This was done in hopes that there wouldn’t be any more wars with Native Americans. Britain also thought this would make the colonies easier to protect. colonists weren’t so happy with the Proclamation of 1763. It meant they could not move westward as they hoped and it made it clear, too, that Britain was maintaining a tighter control of the Colonies.
