In May 25th, 1787, the Founding Fathers came together in Philadelphia to write the constitution.
This was just the beginning of what was going to become the most controversial and important document in what was going to become known as the most important document of The United States of America
Let's start the constitution with WE THE PEOPLE
Well George, I believe that we should have a strong central government in which each state can rely on the other. Because, United we Stand! Divided we Fall!
Let's think of what we can put on our document. So, lets hold a debate!
Well Madison, why should Virginia have the same power as Rhode Island if we have a greater population? I think it should be based on Population.
Why doesn't everyone just go to their homes, and think about it. Let's come back in 4 months and discuss about it.
Thanks to Roger Sherman every delegate agreed on this Compromise. This compromise came to be known as The Great Compromise!
4 Months Later...
I came up with a Great Idea! Why don't we create TWO chambers of congress. The Senate, where each state would have an equal vote. And the House of Representatives, in which delegates per state would be based off of population. I believe that this is fair for everyone.
On September 17, 1787 the Constitution was signed by 39 delegates
We The People of The United States, in order to form a more perfect union establish justice, ensure domestic Tranquility.....
