  • Soil is formed mainly by the breaking down of bigger Rocks known as the Parent Rock.
  • Rocks undergo a process of Expansion during the day.
  • And a process of Contraction during the night.
  • The process by which rocks are broken down into smaller pieces is known as Weathering.  Rain, Heat, Ice, Frost and even Carbon Di Oxide, Oxygen and Acids can cause weathering.
  • These processes cause Cracking of the rock.
  • The breaking down of rocks into smaller and smaller pieces can eventually lead to the formation of Soil.
