The process by which rocks are broken down into smaller pieces is known as Weathering. Rain, Heat, Ice, Frost and even Carbon Di Oxide, Oxygen and Acids can cause weathering.
These processes cause Cracking of the rock.
The breaking down of rocks into smaller and smaller pieces can eventually lead to the formation of Soil.
