  • Gather them all, bind them, and put them in prison!
  • This, story takes place long ago around the year of A.D. 34 and it is about the conversion of Saul. Saul was zealous, cruel, and angry at Christians in Jerusalem and he was about to persecute the ones in Damascus (see on Acts 8:3 ; 9:13).
  • Jesus, please change the heart of Saul so that he may realize that what he is doing is wrong.
  • Jesus is the Christ, He is the Son of God.
  • How do I hear a voice, but see no one?
  • I will never deny my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
  • Then, Saul went to the high priest because he wanted letters that allowed him to capture and imprison the Christians ( Christ 's followers) of Damascus( see on Acts 9:1,2).
  • Please give me letters to bring those criminals in Damascus to justice.
  • Yes, I will, Saul.
  • These criminals in Damascus are going to get what they deserve.
  • So, when Saul received the letters he journeyed to Damascus to capture the Christians and bring them to Jerusalem to be imprisoned. (see on Acts 9:2, 3; Acts 9:1.)
  • But, when Saul was near Damascus a light from heaven shined round about him and he fell to the ground. Then, Jesus (who was in the light) told Saul to stop persecuting Him because Saul was persecuting His people unknowingly. And the men who were with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man(see on Acts 9:3-7).
  • What just happened?
  • Arise, and go into the city , and it shall be told thee what thou must do. (5)
  • Saul, Saul why persecutest thou me? (1)
  • I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. (3)
  • Who art thou Lord? (2)
  • Lord, what will thou have me to do? (4)
  • After Saul's conversation with Jesus in the bright light, he was blind for three days. Then, Jesus told one of his disciples( in a vision) in Damascus to meet Saul in the house of Judas and to give him sight. And Jesus' disciple, Ananias, did just that. (see on Acts 9:8-19.)
  • Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
  • I can see!
  • Thank you, Jesus, I can see!
  • Finally, Saul was baptized and became a disciple of Jesus Christ. He immediately started to preach Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God, after he stayed with the Christians in Damascus for a few days. All were amazed by his preaching because, before his conversion, Saul was persecuting the very same people who called on Jesus' name.(Acts 9:18-22.) And Saul became Paul and he was one of the greatest evangelists for Christ. He became kind, loving, and zealous for Christ.
  • Jesus is the Christ, He is the Son of God. (1)
  • Wow! Was he not persecuting the very same people who called on this name? (2)
