Storyboard Text

  • Boss Tweed, we need to talk about labor rights.
  • Oh Eugene, what are labor rights?
  • The current labor conditions are not fair socially and economically....
  • My reasons for this are... the market is cornered by millionaires like Jim Fisk and Jay Gold, the federal government is corrupted by capitalists, and the hygiene of the cities is terribly low.
  • How can you prove this?
  • The rich people, like yourself, don't participate in hard labor, but obtain all the money gained from that labor. The poor are working nonstop, and are barely able to get food on the table.
  • What do you mean the market is cornered?
  • The Department of Treasury has accepted bribes from businessmen to protect themselves from labor rights enforcers, which permitted the oppression of city laborers.
  • What do you mean  the federal government is corrupted?
  • The corrupt government forces children to work in the factories where they get no sleep and are constantly in the face of danger while working with extreme machinery. Disease ravages the slums of the city where the people don't have enough money to treat themselves.
  • What do you mean the hygiene of the city is terribly low?
  • Now, can you do something about this problem?
  • No, probably not.
