  • EXPOSITION
  • CONFLICT
  • RISING ACTION
  • The narrator responds to Usher's letter by immediately going to the House of Usher to help him through his hard times. 
  • FALLING ACTION
  • Madeline dies so the narrator and Usher put Madeline's body in a vault before they bury her. 
  • RESOLUTION
  • Madeline was accidentally buried alive and was covered in blood due to struggling to get out of the vault. She opens the door and just stands there staring. 
  • RESOLUTION
  • Madeline walks into the room and after a couple of seconds she falls on top of her brother dead from struggling so much to get out of the vault. On impact with Madeline, Usher dies as well. 
  • The narrator immediately leaves the house and while he is fleeing he turns around to see the house suddenly vanish in the reflection of the tarn. 
  • As the narrator watches, he sees the house collapse and disappear into the ethereal fog and waters. Eventually, the house is completely gone.
