  • His eyes resembled that of a vulture- a pale blue eye, with a film over it.
  • Thump Thump Thump
  • The old man's hour had come!
  • The narrator is the watching the old man sleep for about 7 days straight because of how the old man eye is bothering the narrator.
  • A tub had caught all- ha! ha!
  • The old man eyes open and the boy is having great anxiety. So his heart starts to beat and beat.
  • A shriek had been heard by a neighbor during the night; suspicion of foul play had been aroused.
  • The narrator's anxiety takes over and the narrator is so scared that he drags the old man onto the floor and pulls the heavy bed over the old man to kill him.
  • I admit the deed!- tear up the planks!-here, here!-it is the beating of his hideous heart!
  • The narrator is panicked by how he just killed a man and now is trying to dispose of the body. He hid the body underneath the flooring.
  • The narrator hears a ring at the door bell in the pitch black night and is having a conversation with the police about what the neighbors think is horseplay is going on.
  • The police officers are searching the house and the narrator is getting nervous. So nervous that he starts to confess about how he did the murder.
