  • We should rather have War
  • So it be. You shall now face all of Sparta
  • Free the city-states or face War
  • War Begins
  • uhhhhh. why the countryside.
  • Deadlock
  • This war is going nowhere! We need an ally to take down the Athenians
  • Yes we need too, but who?
  • Athens power is increasing and they control all the trade. Sparta feels threatened and offers an ultimatum. Free the City-states or face war. Athens chose war.
  • Persians
  • We offer money in exchange for your hlep in beating the Athenians.
  • Who do they think they are?
  • Sparta attacked in 431 BCE and burned the countryside. Athens didnt want to fight on land, so they retreated behind the city walls. 
  • End
  • Oh no how did we lose!
  • Finally, we have defeated the Athenians.
  • Food was scarce for the Athenians. Their slaves went to the Spartans so labor was short. Athens won the sea battle and Sparta won the land battles. Soon Sparta will gain an ally.
  • Results of War
  • I, Phillip II, will take over Greece! It will be an easy task at hand will everything in ruins.
  • Even though the Persians were still enemies of Greece, they agreed to help Sparta in exchange for money to build a navy. They wanted the city-states to destroy each other.
  • Alright, we accept
  • Sparta gained control of the Athenian ports and cut their supplies by land and sea. Athens barricaded themselves, but ultimately gave up in 404 BCE
  • After 27 years of war between the Athenians and Greece, everything was destroyed. the Democracy was in decline and all power in Greece was lost. Phillip II of Macedon looked to take power of Greece
