Storyboard Text

  • Women all around the world rely on makeup almost daily to feel beautiful.
  • For survey purposes, we asked  women if they would rather cancel a first date or go without wearing makeup.
  • For today's survey, we're asking women if you would rather cancel a first date or go without wearing makeup?
  • Oh dear! That is a pretty hard question.. But I mean I do wear make up most days.. so I would have to cancel.
  • If it's okay with you, today we'd like to ask you one question for a survey.  Would  you rather cancel a first date or go without wearing makeup?
  • I have chosen to start the advertisement with a strong statement that most women can relate to in order to get the audience's attention and interest in the topic. The technique of written codes has been used in this specific image as a caption is the only thing visible in the middle of a white background, therefore the viewer's attention is gravitated to the caption to informs them that this is the topic and main focus of the advertisement.
  • No way am I letting him see me not fully done up as our first date! Cancel it is.
  • I have chosen to contrast this slide with the first slide by using different colours for the background as well as text. This is not to only show that it's a new slide and caption, but to create more interest within the viewer's mind. The juxtaposition of black and white in pretty much anything makes the audience more attentive and focused. The caption has been chosen as it's very straight forward and relates to what the next few slides will be focused on. This creates a connection between different parts of the advertisment.
  • I think women should be happy with their appearance without makeup.. However for an occasion like the first date, makeup makes you more confident, therefore cancel.
  • cancel too.
  • Good afternoon! for survey purposes, I'm asking women if you would rather cancel a first date or go without wearing makeup?
  • Here, I have chosen to include the setting of an outdoor area such as town as it's a common and appropriate place to ask random  people questions as they're doing day to day activities. I've put the image on a long shot as it's the best way to capture people talking while assuring that the viewer can see the location behind. No other individuals are included in the image as I would like the two characters to stand out. As for the main character (man) I've chosen to place an opposite sex character in as it creates more contrast and less confusion to viewers.
  • 91% of women said they would rather cancel a first date than go without wearing makeup.
  • In this slide, another outdoor setting has been chosen to create a more open and appropriate space. I've chosen the same character (man) to take away confusion, and a different character answering the question asked to assure viewers that many women from different races were chosen. Facial expression chosen for the second character is an upset expression to further support her answer, which also supported the cause of the video. The image is taken from a medium shot to create diversity in the different images so it that rather than having the same shot for each, switching up between long, medium, short, etc will make it less boring.
  • As for this slide, I have decided to include a more reasonable answer from the character in which discusses that she personally would wear make up to make herself feel more confident. I have done this to end the survey slide sequence with a convincing reason to women using makeup. I've also included another character who is supposedly the daughter. She also is agreeing with her mother's statement as it shows that females grow up with makeup being a routinely factor of their lives. The setting once again is an open space to provide a more appropriate scenario.
  • The background is back to as it was in the beginning, plain and simple, to let the audience know that this is more information about the advertisement.  I've chosen to use black as the background colour as it's a symbolic code for more formal and negative sided topics opposed to having a bright white background, which is used to achieve a happy and positive outlook on the topic. As seen, parts of the text have been highlighted in a light red shade. This is not only a symbolic colour choice, but also gravitates the viewer to the chosen text, which in this case is the most important information of the sentence.
