Storyboard Text

  • Shoot. Darry never cries.
  • He tries so hard to make me somethin' better than himself that he comes off as hard and cold. He believes in my success, more than Soda's. He does love me.
  • Pony, you have to be more careful and alert because I could never forgive myself if anything happened to you.
  • He hit me Johnny. He hit me because all the worry and stress got to him. He hit me and he knows he was wrong
  • Aw, Darry I'm sorry!
  • Gosh kid, I was so scared of losing you like we lost our parents, Pony.
  • Then, in complete bewilderment, Ponyboy realizes that Darry is silently crying.
  • I'm just tryna keep us all together Ponyboy, you dig? That's why I'm always hollerin' at you.
  • At this moment, the rarity in the amount of emotion that Darry was now experiencing and letting out had Ponyboy coming to terms with the fact that Darry did really care about him. Maybe even too much. He began to think about what Darry really meant when he did and said things.
  • It's okay Darry. I'm okay. So stop cryin' will ya?
  • Ponyboy runs up to hug Darry affectionately, and this death grip is enough for Darry to know that his remorse and passion for Ponyboy was acknowledged.
  • Darry gives Ponyboy a direct sense of why he does the things he does.
  • Ponyboy was then reassured that everything was going to be okay. He knew that there was still going to be chaos, but this moment of tranquility was enough for him.
  • Ponyboy and Darry began to actually feel like family. Things were then looking up for the Curtis family.
