Storyboard Text

  • This scene is important because this marks the beginning of the book. In this scene Victor comes back from the dead and we get a whole flashback on his life. Since the story is  told from first point of view , we get to see the things Victor experiences. This also marks the first time we ever read about Victor being referred to as a Cholo, a gang member by his own mother. In addition to that this scene sets the whole book and it foreshadows what later goes on in the book, therefore this scene was important.
  • This scene is important because this represents the moment his mom realizes that Victor after all is a good person, and maybe after all he isn't the person that society is out to make him seem like. This is also the first time Victor discovers that he likes to cook and that is  one of the things hes passionate for. Cooking a dinner for his mom to stop her from sending him away, shows Victors true side, his soft side.
  • This scene is important because this is the first time he meets Illana.  The park in the scence is very symbolic for both Victor and Illana. He meets a person who connects to so well, a person who had the same interest as him. Victor and Illana have many things in common. This scene marks the first time he fell in love with her. It also marks the importance of a good person  Victor met in his life , that showed him how to live life, and not be one of those gang people. Also shes  the only one who believes for sure that victor cant be  part of a gang. This scene in my opinion was a major scene because it shows a w hole new side of victor that we don't see in earlier in the book.
  • This scene represents the moment his mom sends Victor away for the summer to stay with his aunt because of his bad, mischievous behavior in the house. Here Victor learns how to life a productive activity. He learns new things from johnny, his cousin, who changes Victor in some ways. But also Victor teaches Johnny all the bad things such as gets him into doing drugs with him. IN addition here Victor gets to expand his cooking, and artistic skills. Johnny encourages him to always keep up this passion of his. The scene is important also because Victor gets to discover himself as a person with a productive life beside being part of a gang.
  • This scene is important because this represents the moment when Victor is admitted into the hospital again because Victor had fainted. The doctors run test on him and they discovered  that he had drugs in his blood. They realize that hes been doing drugs for a while, even though he promised his mom that he had quit. This is the moment when everyone grew apart from victor.
  • This scene is important because this represents the moment between Mr. Chavez and Victor. This shows how forgiving Mr.Chavez is and it shows that he mentors and encourages Victor to go to Paris. This represents a strong bond between them which is very important because Victor needs a supportive person in his life at this moment. He proves to be a good influence for Victor pushing him to be a better person.
