The Necklace Story by: Guy de Maupassant Storyboard by Zeynep Atalay
I can't go to this party! I have no fine dress.
How much will a simple dress cost? I'll give you the money.
Set in Paris, France. Matilde is a charming young woman who dreams of a luxurious lifestyle far beyond her reach. She did not have enough money to afford a better life.
Would you really let me borrow this?
Of course, Matilde.
She had no way of meeting a rich and distinguished man so, she married Mr. Loisel. One day, Mr. Loisel who works as a clerk at the Department of Education comes home with an invitation which he begged the Minister of Education for the evening out invitation. He hopes it will bring Mathilde delight.
However, Mathilde is furious because she has nothing fancy to wear so she frowned and tossed the invitation to the table.
Mathilde finds a lovely dress for just under 400 Francs and buys a new gown with the money his husband lended. Matilde is not satisfied until she asks a wealthy friend for a necklace to go along with the fine gown.
The day of the party came and Mrs. Loisel was the prettiest women there. Everybody noticed and admired her. Mathilde and her husband have a great, fun time at the party. When the party is over, Mathilde and her husband take a cab home because the weather was chilly and they were exhausted.
