Odysseus and his men get on to the island and find a seemingly welcoming cave, only to find out an evil, bloodthirsty cyclops by the name of Polyphemus lives there. He comes in and eats one of the men as a threat and for a meal.

*hushed* Guys we’re gonna stab him but we gotta get him drunk first. When he finishes the wine we’ll strike, that way we have a possible chance to escape.
In this scene, a few strong men and Odysseus stab the cyclops in the eye after intoxicating him. They then must come up with a fitting escape plan.
Wow, for someone so smart, he can be SO stupid.
The men ride on sheep outside of the cave of Polyphemus because he’s guarding the door. As they almost make it away, Odysseus’s ego gets the best of him and he yells his name.
“You big oaf! I’ve tricked you with my fantastic witt just as everyone else! See, I am Odysseus, in glory and the flesh. You should basically praise me I’m so great.”
