Storyboard Description

Thomas the main character

Storyboard Text

  • My name is Thomas.
  • It's going to be ok.
  • The title of my book was "The Maze Runner".  The character I chose was Thomas who is the main character. "My name is Thomas he thought" (Dashner 1).
  • Thomas has dark hair and is very tall. Thomas is pulled out of the box, into the Glade and is being judged on what he is wearing. "Look at that shank."  "How old is he?" "Looks like a shank in a t-shirt." (Dashner 3). This means that Thomas is a Greenie - the new kid and he is being judged on the way he looks.
  • This could finally be our way out!
  • Thomas's best personality trait is his bravery. A tragic accident occurs and Thomas remains strong for everyone. "Thomas reeled in the pain, locked it somewhere deep inside him. He did it for Teresa for Newt and Minho" (Dashner 359). This means that even though something terrible happened he is trying to stay positive for everybody else's sake.
  • Thomas was scared and confused in the beginning of the book, but found an inner strength as time went on. When he is first in the box he is frightened and unaware of his surroundings. "Someone........help........me! he screamed; each word ripped his throat raw" (Dashner 3). This means that even though in the beginning he was frightened and disoriented he starts to learn more about the glade and his surroundings.
  • Thomas now knows how the glade and maze work to help them escape. Thomas is with Minho and is thrilled and excited to find this way out! "If they can leave this way so can we" (Dashner 224). This shows that Thomas is smart, clever and brave.
  • Thomas is brave and intends to find a way out. Thomas is not going to stand down and inspires others to do the same. "Thomas felt a trickle of courage inside him- he grasped it, clung to it, urged it to grow. Newt was right. Tonight they'ed fight. Tonight they'ed make their stand once and for all" (Dashner 328). This means having courage despite also having fear.
