  • They began petitions and campaigns to press the federal government into changing the legislation for them so they may have the right to vote and other legal liberties.

  • After a while, people began to see the lingering effects of the war which had begun to cause economic problems. One of the problems was the great debt that Canada had, which resulted in the government increasing taxes to cover the debt.
  • One of those people was Canadian Prime Minister Wilfred Laurier who, on his deathbed, became disillusioned by the war.
