L.A Noir:Clifford Clinton/Harry Raymond Story Part 4
And strike they did.On the night of October 28th,1937 notary Frank Angelillo who was going to testify that grand jury foreman John Bauer was a foot soldier for Shaw, opened his door and found Bauer alongside D.A Buron Fitts and a couple of detectives. They then beat him so badly he was hospitalized
and Three months later on January 38th,1938 Raymond was given a much worse fate.He had uncovered a direct link between the Shaw Administration and gambling/prostitution rings via a campaign worker. He planned on taking it to the L.A Grand Jury when he walked out to his car and pushed the starter. The explosion pushed the engine out of his car and filled him with 186 pieces of shrapnel
Despite being impaled with 186 pieces of shrapnel,Raymond was only in shock, completely surviving the attack. He was rushed to the Central Receiving Hospital by his wife and Clinton rushed to his bedside along with L.A Examiner Editor Ian Richardson.Richardson whispered to him "Who did it Harry?"to which he replied "That Son of a bitch Keynette,I want you to promise you'll get him for me"."I'll get him get him for you Harry"Richardson replied.
Oh,did they get him,and the entire Shaw Administration. The Examiner published an expose that covered the entirety of Raymond's investigation. It exposed the administrations ties to the criminal world and even exposed that Police Commissioner Harry Munson was a courier of Mob bribe money to Shaw
This report sent a wave of uproar rippling across Los Angeles, and for the first time in years justice was brought. The D.A was forced to open an investigation and the evidence against Kynette and his Intelligence Squad was damming.Kynette purchased the steel pipe used in the bombing and a car seen driving by Raymond's home was traced back to the Intelligence Squad
On June 17th,1948 Cpt.Earl Kynette,LT.Roy Allen, and Sgt.Fred Browne were convicted of four counts of conspiracy to commit murder
