Fritz Gerlich was born on the 15th of January,1883 in Stettin Pomerania[now modern day eastern Germany].Although the eldest of three sons and the son of Paul Gerlich. a meager fishmonger and his wife Therese he excelled in school and in 1881 was enrolled in Marienstiftungymansium[Our Lady's Grammar School]and graduated senior class there in 1901.
It was in 1902 that Gerlich attended the University of Munich and it was at this time that his talents truly showed.Despite originally majoring in Mathematics and Natural Science he quickly switched to History and began his lifelong interest in politics
Although his beliefs were relatively conservative,his ideals were mostly built upon his own morality.His was secretary of the Munich Liberal Workers Union and member of the Free Student Union after graduating and not being able to fight due to his poor eyesight,howerver he was also a member of the right wing Anti-Bolsevhik League and wrote for the conservative newspaper Suddeutche Montasheefe from 1917 to 1919
However above all he hated extremism,believing it brought how the worst qualities of humanity on both sides of the political isle.In 1919 he wrote the book "Communism and the Theory Of The Thousand Year Reich" condemning Communism and the Russian Revolution and fervently condemned anti-semetism dedicating an entire chapter how the fact many leaders of the Communist Party where Jewish and how that has lead to hatred and attacks on Jews
Apparently his years of hard work did in fact back off.Because in 1920,at the age of 35 Gerlich was appointed Editor and Chief of Munich's Newest News,the largest newspaper in Southern Germany.On the same year,he married his wife Sophie Botzenhart.It was becoming the greatest year of his life.However soon a monster was to rise to power in germany and that monster would change his life forever.
