Storyboard Text

  • The dragon wounds Beowulf in the neck. Wiglaf strikes the dragon and he and Beowulf succeed on killing the beast. Nevertheless, fate that night intended Beowulf's wound to be proved mortal
  • I’ve worn this crown for fifty winters and no neighboring people have tried to threaten the Geats. I can leave this life happy; belovèd Wiglaf, bring me the dragon's treasure. Hurry, bring me ancient silver, precious Jewels, shining armor and gems, before I die.
  • He has defeated me... grrrr
  • Then Wexstan’s son entered the inner darkness of the tower, and suddenly saw piles of gleaming gold, precious gems, scattered on the floor, cups and bracelets and rusty old helmets.
  • I may have almost sold my life for this treasure, now I must bring it to my king
  • Then Wiglaf ran back, anxious to return while Beowulf was alive. Wiglaf gave Beowulf the treasure ; then that brave king gave the golden necklace from around his throat to Wiglaf, gave him his gold-covered helmet, and his ring.
  • Lord of heaven and earth please help my wounded king.
  • Then the warriors rose, stared and stood weeping as they saw Beowulf dead on the sand. Their mightyWar-king, the great lord of the Geats laid in his last bed.
  • Take what I leave, Wiglaf, lead my people, help them; my time is gone
  • Beowulf confesses his dying wish to Wiglaf. Then the old man’s mouth was silent, spoke no more, had said as much as it could; he would sleep in the fire, soon.
  • Have the brave Geats build me a tomb, when the funeral flames have burned me, and build it here, at the water’s edge, high on this spit of land, so sailors can see this tower, and remember my name, and call it Beowulf ’s tower,
  • your wish is my command
  • Beowulf ’s followers came out of the wood, cowards and traitors, knowing the dragon was dead. Then Wiglaf turned and angrily told them what men without courage must hear.
  • May shame be brought upon you all! Our ruler is dead due to cowardliness. Now he has left this earth knowing his men were more afraid than loyal. Now I am your ruler, and may it be clear that this will not happen again!
  • We will fulfill your wishes. Beowulf's tower will be the only thing sailors will se as they pass through our lands. Rest in peace our brave warrior.
