Of the 12 000 inhabitants of French origin in Acadia, between 1755-1760, about 10 000 of them were expelled. Some of them went to the French colony of Louisiana, which is now part of the United States.

Unfortunately, some of them died on the long sea journey and of those who returned after seven years when they allowed back, they found that their lands had been given away.
