  • Three year old playing in the rain, running around splashing his bare feet in the water
  • I wish I could chop you of of the tree like what jack did to the giant
  • His mouth contorting in brief spite and hurt, his laughter metamorphosed into howls, his father stands there angling for a moment's hint of guilt or sorrow for a quick slap struck 
  • You don't understand not yet, the hurt your tears bring me how it makes me feel
  • His frame so recently relaxed now tight, he stands there with his bright eyes swimming tears and splashing his bare feet
  • Do not ruin the lessons you should learn andyou must not make a play thing of the rain
  • The boy sees his father as an ogre that towers above him, that grim giant, empty of feeling, a colossal cruel soon the victim of the tale's conclusion, he hates his and imagines him dead.
  • The father explains to him that he doesn't understand yet how his tears hurt him and how hard it is for him to put on a straight face while trying to discipline
  • The father explains and says that he longs to lift him up and to do anything to see him happy and tells him that he should not ruin the lessons he should learn and that he should not make a plaything of the rain
