  • Yo Yo Yo Yo. Today we will talk about surface tension
  • By Aarushi Gaikwad and Zoe Caruso
  • Surface Tension
  • Surface tension is the elastic tendency of a fluid surface which makes it acquire the least surface area possible. Surface tension allows insects (e.g. water striders), usually denser than water, to float and stride on a water surface.

  • Water molecules that from an invisible shield by sticking together is an example of hydrogen the surface tension property.
  • An example of this would be ho insects are able to "walk" on water even though they are more dense than the water.
  • This is able to happen because of the cohesive nature of water molecules, particularly caused b hydrogen bonding.
