Cartoon for Year 6 students regarding good digital citizenship.
Hi everyone. My name is Emily. I live here, on this street, full of houses and people. I like to think of the Internet as kind of like my street - full of places to visit and people to meet.
I share my home with my mum and dad and brothers and sister. To get along we have rules, like no coming in my bedroom without knocking first!
When I go online I follow certain rules there too, so that I and everyone I connect with stay safe and have fun.
Sometimes when I'm chatting with friends online, someone says something mean. They might think they are being funny, but it hurts my feelings.
I am better at ignoring mean messages and hurtful words now, but at first it was hard. The best thing I can do is follow simple rules like make sure I am respectful and nice to the people I chat with online and to let a grown-up know what is happening if the mean messages keep coming. I want all my friends to feel happy and safe online.
There is so much to discover, so much to learn and so many ways to have fun on the Internet. If we all try to be respectful and polite to each other online we can all have an awesome time!
