One day when Classius Clay was a young boy, his bike got stolen. He found a policeman, Joe Martin, in a local boxing gym to report the crime. The officer then offered him boxing lessons to protect himself.
Muhammad Ali defeated Sonny Liston, and became The World's Heavyweight Champion.

Classius Clay changed his "slave name" to Muhammad Ali. He later converted to Islam and joined the Nation of Islam. He and his mentor, Malcolm X, supported equal rights and racial integration.
Muhammad Ali was sentenced to five years in jail and convicted of draft evasion after refusing to fight in the Vietnam War due to his beliefs and his religion, Islam. The case later was appealed from the Supreme Court and he continued his boxing career.
