This is the scene from the chapter "The Rainy River". The conflict I identified is man vs self. O'Brien was unsure whether he wanted to runaway or fight in the war he was battling with guilt and shame within himself.
This scene is from the chapter "The Man I Killed". What is displayed is the killing of a Vietnamese solider by O'Brien. The conflict is man vs man and man vs self. After throwing a grenade at the solider O'Brien feels guilt and begins to think about the type of person he was, much like him.
The conflict displayed in this scene is known as man vs society. Lemon was a tough solider or at least that's how he wanted to be seen. After chickening out when the dentist was checking his teeth he was worried about his image with his fellow soldiers. Society was the reason he went back and had a perfectly good tooth pulled.
The conflict displayed is man vs self, or man vs nature. In the chapter "How to Tell a True War Story" Sanders recalls an event in the mountains where one man begins to hear "sounds". Because they were out there so long and silent he began to think that the forest spoke. Slowly he went crazy because of his mind and self.
