King Louis XVI and Queen Marie-Antoinette had just gotten into power. They were young and incompetent leaders. Marie-Antoinette was obsessed with vanity and fashion, and King Louis XVI was indecisive and not prepared for the problems he had inherited.
Should Marie-Antoinette and King Louis XVI be thought of as responsible for their incompetency as leaders?

The people were becoming restless and angry at the difference of wealth and power between the high class and low class citizens. A few stood out as people that wanted to speak against the unfairness. Many in the society were ready to combat the incongruity of the system.
