  • It was the eye of the old man that the narrator thought was evil. The narrator thought the old man had the eye of an vulture.
  • The narrator says that he wasn't a madman because a madman wouldn't have been so clever as he was.
  • The narrator decides to take the old man's life
  • Every night the narrator would go to the old man's bedroom and shine a light onto his eye. Until one night the old man woke up because he heard noise.
  • The narrator could hear the old man's heart beat with terror. It caused the narrator to become angry, and angry, and angry because the beating grew quicker and louder every second.  The narrator leaped into the room and dragged the old man onto the floor and pulled the bed over him.
  • After the narrator killed the old man he cut him up in the bath tub and stored the remains of the old man in the floor of the the old man's bedroom. The police was called because of a loud shriek. He showed them around and then he took them to the very room where he killed the old man and hid his body. The narrator started hearing a beating sound and it was the old man's heart it continued but it got louder and louder and louder every moment and the narrator ripped the boards out and pulled the corpse from underneath.
