Dwight David Eisenhower aka ''Ike'' was our 34th President, he had 442 electoral votes for his 1st term and 457 votes for his second term. He was a republican and served 9 years in office.
Eisenhower graduated from Abilene High School in 1909 and then went to work for a year to help pay for his brother's college education. In 1911 he attended West Point Military Academy, where he was more interested in sports, especially football, than in his studies. Eisenhower graduated from West Point in 1915 and married Mamie Doud

In 1957 nine African American students were prevented from entering a school by a angry mob. Dwight Eisenhower placed the Arkansas National Guard under federal control and sent 1,000 U.S army paratroopers from the 101st Airborne Divison to assist them in restoring order in Little Rock. The daring tactic worked and the African American student were enrolled without disturbances
Eisenhower was an avid painter in his later years. He was the first president to ride in a helicopter. He was once president of Columbia University.
