Lord of the Flies Storyboard that for Mrs. Gallagher
" Then the creature stepped from the mirage onto clear sand, and they saw that the darkness... The boy who controlled them was dressed in the same way though his cap badge was golden," ( Golding 19). This scene represents that from the start there is a darkness that circles Jack, and the difference in his badge forshadowes his future rise to Chief.
" There was no place for standing on ones head. This time Ralph expressed the intensity of his emotion by pretending to knock Simon down; and soon they were a happy, heaving-pile in the under-dusk," ( Golding 27).
" One heave,' cried Jack, exulting, ' and-whee-!" ( Golding 107). The rolling of the rocks off of Castle Rock foreshadows that eventually someone is going to get hurt. At this point in the novel, the reader is unaware that the victim of this act will be Piggy, but after completing the novel this is the case.
