  • Tropomyosin
  • Bonding Sites
  • The Tropomyosin is then rotated which exposes the binding sites on actin.
  • Myosin Heads
  • The Myosin heads attach to the actin which forms the myosin cross bridges.
  • The myosin heads then pivot pulling the filament towards the sarcomere, this is called a power stroke. ADP is then released during the movement
  • ATP
  • ATP
  • ATP then binds to the myosin heads causing them to release from the actin
  • ADP
  • P ion
  • ATP is Hydrolyzed which leaves the ADP whilst the myosin head releases a P ion the rests.
  • P ion
  • ADP
  • If more Ca+ is present then the process will begin again but if not then the muscle will relax.
