Cykeln med ohälsosamma relationer är ett viktigt begrepp för elever att förstå när de pratar om hälsosamma relationer. Varje förhållande är unikt och det kan vara svårt att jämföra varandra med varandra, men när det finns missbruk eller ohälsosamma aspekter finns det vanligtvis ett mönster. Detta mönster eller cykel kan börja med smekmånadfasen , fortsätta in i spänningsbyggnadsfasen , gå in i explosionfasen och slutligen gå in i smekmånefasen igen och fortsätta cykeln. Denna cykel behöver inte vara en romantisk relation; vänner och familj kan gå igenom denna cykel och har svårt att komma ut.
Att komma ur ett ohälsosamt förhållande är farligt och tufft. Det första steget är att erkänna cykeln med ohälsosamma relationer. Efter att ha undervisat i ämnena, låt eleverna skapa en storyboard som följer cykeln för en ohälsosam relation. Övervaka elevernas skapelser för olämpligt innehåll. Studenter ska inte använda sig själva eller andra kamrater som offer eller aggressörer. Om det behövs kan de använda de mycket uttrycksfulla, men mindre realistiska, Stickies snarare än de vanliga Storyboard That karaktärerna.
Smekmånad fas
Allt verkar gå bra utan problem eller slagsmål under smekmånadfasen. Det kan finnas ursäkter, gåvor som ges eller löften som gjorts för att upprätthålla fasaden på en lycklig relation. Detta är en tidsperiod som missbrukarna använder för att manipulera offret till att tro att allt är okej - eller kommer att bli det igen.
Spänningen bygger
Spänningsuppbyggnadsfasen är när aggressorn verkar bli upprörd över små saker, ofta skriker, slåss eller kontrollerar delar av förhållandet. Den här fasen är där många röda flaggor förekommer.
Explosion
Explosionsfasen är där attacken äger rum. Det kan finnas olika exempel på utbrott av hot, emotionellt och verbalt missbruk, till och med fysiskt missbruk. Efter explosionen finns det ofta en ursäkt och manipulering av smekmånefasen för att få offret att köpa in förhållandet.

Studentinstruktioner
Skapa en storyboard som visar den ohälsosamma förhållningscykeln. Använd olika exempelrelationer för varje cell.
