Aktivitetsöversikt
Studenter bör lära sig att känna igen effekterna av de låga dopaminnivåerna i hjärnan efter en hög från ett läkemedel. Detta låga är en huvudsaklig orsak till repetitiv läkemedelsanvändning. För att göra detta koncept så imponerande som möjligt är det viktigt att prata om hur hjärnans belöningssystem fungerar och hur droger modifierar det.
I den här aktiviteten kommer studenter att jämföra dopamineffekten i en "naturlig hög", som att träna, umgås etc. med dopamineffekten av ett läkemedel. Medan exemplet i den här aktiviteten kan användas som ett pedagogiskt diagram för studenter, är det bra för dem att skapa sina egna först! Eleverna kommer att skapa ett diagram för att jämföra dopamineffekten, komplett med ett visuellt för att hjälpa dem komma ihåg.
Den här aktiviteten kan modifieras för att elever ska kunna fyllas i efter en klassdiskussion eller för dem som behöver ytterligare byggnadsställningar. Om du lämnar de "höga" och "låga" cellerna tomma för elever att fylla i hjälper det att skapa en anslutning med innehåll. Eller ta bort linjen på diagrammet och avmarkera hjärnan. Vad läraren väljer att lägga till eller ta bort kommer att variera beroende på vad de vill att deras elever ska komma ihåg och öva.
