Mom, can I please please please go out with my friends?
No is no! I can't risk you catching the virus and bringing it back home!
My struggle for freedom is that I lost many privileges and gained more restrictions during quarantine.
Outdoors
Hey, how's it going
Oh hey! Um, can you step back a little? Thanks.
Whenever I step outside, I have to think about my necessities such as wearing a mask and having a bottle of hand sanitizer.
"Persepolis 2" Relation
I have to wear a mask, hold a hand sanitizer bottle, and stand 6ft apart from people to avoid risk of catching the virus.
I must wear a veil and follow a strict dress code for women to avoid getting harsh punishment.
During quarantine, I lost the ability to visit my friends. Unfortunately, my parents felt that I was foolish to ask whether I could go out or not.
Closure
My struggle was that women lived under strict rules in Iran. And yours's?
When walking outside I really wish that I could take off the mask to enjoy the fresh air. But for my safety, putting on a mask is a must do when around people. Not only that, but the 6 feet social distance rule.
Oh, I apologize.
In this situation, I can say that it is similar to the graphic novel, "Persepolis 2". Needing hand sanitizer and a mask is like how Marjane needs to wear her veil and wear her outfit correctly.
In the end, both of occurrences are different. However, the idea of struggling for freedom still takes place.
Well, mine is that I'm restricted to do many things because of quarantine. To be fair, its mainly for safety.
