Storyboard Text

  • Moishe and others had been taken one day and he had to dig trenches and once they were done, they were shoot. Moishe was able to escape. "He no longer mentioned either God or Kabbalah. He spoke only of what he had seen." (7)
  • Listen to me,you have to believe me on what I saw!
  • Two Ghettos had been created, there was a small and big one. Elie and his family were in the bigger one. The Jews were isolated from the non-Jews but the Jews thought that it might be a good idea. "In fact, we felt this was not a bad thing; we were entirely among ourselves." (11)
  • Maybe it won't be too bad living like this.
  • Things had gone back to "normal" until Elie's father said that they were going to get transported somewhere in Hungary and that they could pack some belongings. "Tomorrow you will be expelled, you and your family, you and all the other Jews." (15)
  • " 'The news is terrible,' he said at last. And then one word: 'Transports' ". (13)
  • Later on Elie and his family also got transported. Mrs. Schächeter had gotten separated from her husband and her other kids. Everything that was going on was starting to affect her mentally. The people on the train couldn't stand her screaming anymore. "She received several blows to the head, blows that could have been lethal." (26)
  • "Look at the fire! Look at the flames! Flames everywhere..." (26)
  • They had arrived at Auschwitz and they were told to get out. Mrs. Schächter and her son had stayed in the train, people said they should take her to the hospital. Once they got out Elie could already smell something unpleasant. "In front of us, those flames. In the air, the smell of burning flesh." (28)
  • "Everybody out! Leave everything inside. Hurry up!" (28)
  • "The barbed wire that encircled us like a wall did not fill us with real fear. In fact, we felt this was not a bad thing; we were entirely among ourselves. A small Jewish republic" (11) I think that this quotes is important because I think it's the start of when everything happened and it also shows how the Jews didn't know what was going to happen and how they though they were going to be able to live calmly with other Jews.
