"Bro, that sucks your girlfriend dumped you. But you gotta move on, because you've been sad for a month now. Let's go play basketball or something."
The intercultural imperative I relate to the most is: peace. I want to study how different cultures communicate so I can be a well-informed individual who is respectful to other cultures' etiquette and expectations when communicating everyday. I think in American society, we are very fortunate to have a very open and caring society when meeting others who are going through difficult times and want someone to just talk about it.

My friends and I used to find ourselves talking about things we were going through, while in high school, usually at the park or basketball court after school.

Yeah bro, I think we walked for like 3 hours. It looks we traveled back in time to a medieval castle or village.
Dang, we had such an in-depth talk about life, faith, philosophy, etc- that it looks like we ended walking into a far away land.
One really memorable experience I had with my friend one time was, for some reason we were walking one night throughout our city from like midnight to 3:00AM- I think probably during the pandemic- and it was like we could just go on forever about all sorts of topics our 20 year old brains were thinking just starting to think about and figure out.

"Thanks for hearing my side of the story bro, and also getting me out of the house to play basketball to take my mind of all this. I appreciate you bro."
