- Famous for her publication of Silent Spring, which created a lot of backlash but led to change.
- Studied biology in college at Johns Hopkins. Her studied were cut short because she had to provide for her family.
- Second women ever hired by the United States Bureau of Fisheries.
- She stated DDT is so bad that if we keep exposing us and our food sources to it, it could alter our DNA.
