  • Proxy wars/Espionage
  • Arms Race
  • Fire!
  • Bipolariazation of Europe
  • The Korean war was fought between North Korea and South Korea, it was really fought between the United States and China/Soviet War. A proxy war is a war instigated by a major power that does not itself become self-involved. (America and the Soviet Union) Proxy wars function best during cold wars, they become a necessity in conducting armed conflict between at least two belligerents while continuing cold warfare. Espionage is when one secretly gathers information about a foreign government or a competing business, with the purpose of placing one's own government or business at some military or financial advantage. Involves a government or a person getting information that is considered secret or confidential.
  • Truman Doctrine
  • The arms race was a competition for supremacy in nuclear warfare between the United States, the Soviet Union, and their respective allies during the Cold War. The US government decided to develop a hydrogen bomb, first tested in 1952. This led many Americans to fear a Nuclear War, urging them to prepare for an atomic bomb. The NSC-68 was released in 1950 as a secret policy paper and called for quadrupling defense in order to meet the perceived Soviet threat. Both nations will compete to develop and create more nuclear weapons.
  • Korean War
  • West takes after the United States and East takes over the Soviet Union.
  • Cold war at home/McCarthyism
  • The Truman Doctrine was a document made by President Harry Truman, which calls for the U.S. financial and military aid to Greece and Turkey in an effort to protect the countries from Soviet domination. His initial request was specifically for $400 million to assist both Greece and Turkey, which Congress approved. The Truman Doctrine was followed by the Marshall Plan later that year. The policy called for money to be transferred to third-world nations, such as Greece and Turkey, in an attempt to prevent communist expansion and gain allies in the battle against communists.
  • A conflict between Democrats people in the Republic of Korea or North Korea and the Republic of Korea or South Korea. What causes the War might be the spread of communism during the Cold War. It started when North Korea invaded the South along the border. The U.S. helped South Korea during the War. Nobody Won the war. Many allies including the United States joined the fight against the north communist party. The Allies faced dire consequences with the army of the communists being well disciplined and well trained. After the cold war, the United States and the Soviet Union divided Korea into two parts.
  • The Cold War rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union lasted for decades and resulted in anti-communist suspicions and international incidents that led the two superpowers to the brink of nuclear disaster. During the late 1940s and early 1950s, fear of communism led to reckless charges against innocent citizens. Joseph McCarthy, a well known senator sparked McCarthyism with his speeches about how he was aware of the 205 card-carrying members of the communist party that worked for the U.S. department of the state. The use of unfounded political accusations to destroy the character of opponents. Gains incredible power in the early 50s. Nobody wants to challenge him for fear of being accused of communist Sympathies. Phenomenon of early 1950s illustrates fear and paranoia. Unfairly accusing people of disloyalty made possible in a climate of fear.
