- Projection is when an individual sees their own faults in other people or groups but doesn't see it in themselves.

- Absolutely not! But you definitely have been.
- Don't you think you have been a little irritable lately?
- Displacement is when an individual takes out their anger or frustration on another person or object who is not the cause of these negative emotions.

- My boss yelled at me at work, so now I am angry and will yell at you!
- Denial is the refusal to accept or even perceive a difficult fact.
- Denial
- No. I am not.
- You are dying.
- Isolation is when an individual recalls a traumatic event without any of the emotions associated with it.
- Isolation
- My house burned down and I barely made it out alive but I feel nothing.
- Sublimation is when negative emotions are transformed into more socially acceptable behaviors.

- I failed my test and I'm super angry about it so I feel the urge to get rid of this energy by doing 400 push ups!
