- This showed him a different perspective of why someone wouldn’t want to find their personal legend. How if they go, they might think it is a disappointment and there is no reason to keep living because you have completed it.

- This is when Santiago learned that everyone knows how to do different things that he might not be able to do. And he should respect people for what they are able to accomplish or what they understand better.
- I don't understand nature
- Yeah, I don't understand alchemy either
- This showed him what true love really felt like. Not with the king's daughter, which he wasn’t sure if she even would remember him, but with Fatima. Who told him that she would be waiting everyday like the other women for his return and send him kisses through the wind.
- Hi, Im Fatima.
- I think I'm in love
- The way they met showed Santiago how brave he was. He was able to talk to him, telling the whole truth about what he saw, and being very calm when the Alchemist was holding a sword to his head.
- Yes, I am.
- You're the alchemist!
- This showed Santiago that he can do anything he puts his mind to. And it showed him that sometimes he just needs a little help to be able to do it
- *Talking to the sun, wind, and nature*
- This showed him that if he knew the treasure wasn’t there, he would have never gone in the first place. He would never have met Fatime, the merchant. He would have never gotten robbed, he would have never met the Englishmen or the alchemist. This showed him that everything happens for a reason.
- If the treasure isn't here, the why did i have to go here?
