- Hi Grandma! I'm building a snowman. Do you like it?
- Let me go Johns house and ask him about what this 'volume' stuff is. Maybe he'll know.
- My grandma, Alicia, asked what the volume of my snowman was and I don't know how to find it. I don't think we really covered it in math class yet.
- That will get him thinking!
- Thanks for letting me come to your house I came here to ask you about how to calculate volume.
- No problem. What do you want to know?
- Well, first things first: Volume is the amount of space in a 3D shape whereas area is the amount of space in a 2D shape.
