From everything i have learned and heard about Louis Riel, here's what I think about him and why.
Louis David Riel was thought to be a Traitor by some people and a Patriot by others. Personally I think that when he started his journey on following his fathers footsteps he was taken as a joke. But later on when he got into the bigger government, he was liked by most or all of the Metis people.
I think that after he was executed, most people changed their minds and said that he was a villain since no one would execute a perfectly kind person. I think that he didn’t mean to do any harm he was just looked upon as the bad guy.
A big part of people thinking Louis Riel is a bad leader and just a bad person in general is that, it’s said that Louis Riel had arrested a Canadian military officer named Thomas Scott. There were some Ontario officers that’s job was to find and murder Louis.

When Riel found out that he was in danger, he escaped from the U.S borders. Later, when people thought that he murdered Thomas, the federal government decided not to put Riel him on murder trial but still banish him from Canada for 5 years. Until now no one has found out if he has actually murdered him.
