The story The Monsters are Due on Maple Street, starts with a normal day on Maple Street, Steve was polishing his car. Charlie was sitting in the back, Tommy was in his yard and Don was out for a walk. All was calm until a UFO/meteor flew over the street drawing everyone's attention.
Climax
After the Meteor landed everything stopped. It was like the power went out but the radios and communications stopped too. While everyone was confused, Pete Van Horn went to check the other neighborhoods. Steve and Don tried to drive to town to see what happened, but Tommy told them that the monsters would not allow them to leave. Only the monsters among them could leave. Every one was confused and did not understand.
Falling Action
Steve tried to start his car but it wouldn't start. While everyone is trying to fix the car, Les Goodman's Car starts all by itself. Everyone starts to accuse Les Goodman of Being a monster. As the car lights flash everybody gets more and more scared and confused. They start to accuse him and Les gets mad and starts to yell at the crowd. He goes into his house and slams the door. While everyone was distracted a figure started to walk down the street.
Resolution
Les came out with a gun ready to shoot the approaching figure if an enemy. Charlie ,trying to protect his house, snatched the gun and shot the man dead. When Charlie rolled the man over he realized it was Pete Van Horn. The town started to accuse Charlie of knowing that it was Pete and being a monster.
Every one starts to point fingers and argue. The lights in Charlie's house go on and the Steve's car started. Charlie starts accusing Tommy because he was the first one who talked about monsters. Tommy's mom accuses Steve and on and on. The entire neighborhood starts to argue and fight.
During the Resolution we learn that the monsters only want to make the people tear themselves apart. They want to destroy the human world so they repeat the actions that they did to maple street and let them fight themselves.
