Scene 2: Pedro's FailureDon Pedro, the eldest, is the first to seek the bird. He travels to Mount Tabor, where the Adarna is said to live. He arrives at the tree where the bird perches, but he is weary and underestimates its magic.
PEDRO (Thinking): Just a short rest while it sings... it is beautiful.
The Ibong Adarna begins its seven songs. Each song makes Pedro sleepier. Eventually, the bird defecates, and the dropping lands on Pedro, turning him instantly into stone.
